Food & Fun at Hamilton’s Food & Drink Fest!
One of the perks of the job here at Not Your Child Co. is that we get to travel all over this great province to help people learn about how to be safer and more mindful in their drinking while also teaching them how easy it is to use our breathalyzers (either the single-use or multi-use models). And through our work we meet all sorts of wonderful people. Food and drink producers, small and large business owners, and event organizers that not only want to create the best product or run a solid event, but also want to help their local community grow and be celebrated with a foundation of social awareness.
And we found just that in the city of Hamilton back in May when we attended Hamilton’s Food & Drink Festival.
Held at the FirstOntario Centre, Hamilton’s Food & Drink Fest is the city’s most highly anticipated weekend-long celebration of local chefs, restaurants, wines, spirits, and craft beer! With top local live entertainment providing the backdrop, the stadium floor is packed with wines, specialty beers, and culinary delights of the senses created by some of the best and most popular restaurants, breweries, wineries, and food producers in the Hamilton, Halton & Niagara Regions along with representations from other businesses in Ontario.
Hamilton is one of those cities that is always worth revisiting, as it continues to grow more and more each year becoming a culinary and beer destination that, honestly, gives Toronto a run for its money. Events like Hamilton’s Food & Drink Fest are a great way to expand the palate of Hamilton’s residents (both new and old) and its visitors, getting them to think beyond their regular tastes while encouraging them to explore the vast culinary and beverage delights of the whole province or in their local area.
We sampled some amazing beer from the likes of Nickel Brook Brewing and Thornbury Craft Co., some delicious wine from Niagara’s Reif Estate Winery, and the food…oh MY, the food! There were delicious samples from local Hamilton restaurants Rapscallion and Co., Industria Pizzeria + Bar, and Baci Ristorante among so many others! We took home some beans from Relay Coffee Roasters, and a bottle of smoked habanero tequila hot sauce from Steel City Sauce Co. It felt like we were in a theme park of culinary wonders!
And of course, Not Your Child Corp. proudly had a booth at the festival, giving free breath tests, educating on how to stay safe, selling single-use breathalyzers, and enjoying the vibrant, safe, and fun festival that does its part to put the city of Hamilton on the map!
We already can’t wait until next year!
